When Alekksis was born, doctors suspected there was something wrong with her brain. So when she was only 2 days old, an MRI was done. The doctors described her brain as being underdeveloped, small and lacking shape. The MRI was enough to conclude that she would never be able to do much with her life and that we would have difficult times ahead.
Just over a year later, while at Westmead Children's Hospital, Alekksis was put under general anaesthetic and another MRI was done to see if there had been any changes. After her MRI, not much was said about it - that it was difficult to tell if she was getting better or worse. We were told that it wasn't good.
We obtained a copy of her latest MRI and while admiting that we are no radiologist or neurology experts, we are happy none-the-less to see that her brain has actually grown! We found a snapshot of her first MRI and placed it side by side (in scale) and can see obvious changes. Click on image below:
